  Register Domain Name
Registering a domain name is the primary step in establishing a website. With a clear understanding of the processes involved in the domain registration, people would find it that it is a considerably easy thing to do. Moreover, registering a domain may even take 10 to 15 minutes only.

First of all, a person has to verify the availability of his desired domain name. He can do this by performing a search using certain online applications provided by domain registration websites (an example of a site for domain registration is VeriSign.com). He needs to be careful in entering his domain name in the online form. The "www" part of the domain name does not need to be entered. Most domain registration websites require users to enter a set of characters encoded on an image, which prevents automated systems from exploiting the site. If for some reason the person can not read the characters, he can check if they have an audio equivalent that he can listen to and subsequently type into the designated field. If such a feature is not available, he can contact the web master of the site regarding this concern and try another place on the Net.

After the person has successfully entered the domain name, the site will determine whether it is still available or is already in use. The person has to choose another name if it is unavailable, but if it is unregistered, he can move on and select a domain name registrar or the company which handles the registration of the name. After choosing a registrar, he needs to visit its site. On the form provided by the site of the registrar, he will enter the domain name as well as his contact information and indicate how many years will he be paying for the name. To complete the process, he has to point his new domain to a particular web server.
